ABOUT ME

I LOVE helping students of all ages understand mathematics. My goals are to make hard things easy and for students to gain confidence that they CAN do the math! I see myself as a coach - rooting for my students to reach their goals - and not letting mathematics stand in their way.

After receiving a BS in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech in 1993, I began work in technical sales.  I found that I really enjoyed HELPING people more than selling to people.  I went on to receive a PhD in secondary mathematics education from the University of South Carolina.  I have taught and tutored mathematics for over 20 years.  My specialties are SAT/ACT/GRE/ASVAB prep and any level of mathematics from early elementary to all levels of algebra, geometry, and precalculus.  I also specialize in college courses that are algebra based and entry-level college statistics. I tutor 1-on-1. small groups, and large groups - IN-PERSON in Columbia, SC or VIRTUAL ANYWHERE.
